QUESTION
How to obtain and install the patch for ToolBook Instructor 2004 SP3 made available on November 4, 2005?

HISTORY
Assistant 2004 SP3 shipped 20 days later than Instructor 2004 SP3

• Instructor 2004 SP3 shipped on September 20, 2005
• Assistant 2004 SP3 shipped on October 10, 2005

During those 20 days two problems were discovered. Since Assistant 2004 SP3 had not shipped yet, the decision was made to include the fixes for those problem in Assistant SP3.

This introduced a functional difference between the SP3 version of Assistant and the SP3 version of Instructor. This patch (which is really only a single replacement file) is intended to offer those same fixes to the Instructor SP3 audience.

DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS
To install the patch for Instructor 2004 SP3 follow the steps below.

1. Since this patch is to be applied ONLY against ToolBook Instructor 2004 SP3, you must already have Instructor 2004 SP3 installed, see:

2. Close ToolBook
    
3. Download the patch file by clicking in this link [953k] :
   ftp://ftp.sumtotalsystems.com/pub/tb2/instructor/2004SP3/inst2004SP3patch.zip 
      
4. Locate the file called TOOLBOOK.JAR, located in the ToolBook Product Folder, typically located at:
    
   C:\Program Files\Click2learn\Instructor 2004\ToolBook.jar
    
     or
    
   C:\Program Files\sumtotal\Instructor 2004\ToolBook.jar 
      
5. Rename the TOOLBOOK.JAR file to TOOLBOOK.JAR.BACKUP

6. Unzip the INST2004SP3PATCH.ZIP file and find the replacement version of TOOLBOOK.JAR inside.
    
7. Copy this replacement file into your ToolBook Product Folder
