Product: ToolBook
Component: Native, Runtime
Product version(s): Instructor 9.0
PROBLEM
When you launch a TBK file in the Runtime version of ToolBook on Windows Vista from a network drive, you may get the following Security Warning:
Open File - Security Warning
The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to
run this software?
Name: \\NetworkPath\runtime\tb90run.exe
Publisher: Unknown Publisher
Type: Application
From: \\NetworkPath\
DETAILS
At the moment, this behavior is normal on Vista. Vista displays a dialog or a security warming anytime an unsigned application is launched.
The Authoring Version of ToolBook is a signed application and will not trigger this warning when opening ToolBook.
However because ToolBook allows you to write OpenScript, and OpenScript is a very powerful programming language allowing you to do things to Vista which Vista may very well find non-secure, it is not possible for SumTotal to sign the runtime engine of ToolBook.
